The Dummy Wummy guide
(via happymonsters)
good advice babe! @jellytothebelly
sometimes bad things happen for reason. and no wise words can stop the bleeding. but moving on is necessary for a better tomorrow. but how do you do it when you’re empty and the fight has left you?
i’ve come up with 5 simple rules i live by in the event of a break up.
1) know that crying is ok.
so what if crappy love songs make you tear? so what if you watch ‘love actually’ 10 times and still use the same amount of tissues? crying is an emotional outlet that is part and parcel of the healing process.
2) don’t rethink.
if the breakup was your decision, keep in mind that only thinking about all the good times you had with your partner may cause you to forget the reasons why you broke it off. by the same token, try not to second-guess the situation if the decision to end things was not yours. it’s really common to romanticize the good parts of the relationship, convincing yourself that maybe the bad parts weren’t so bad after all, that maybe you could just live with them. or that maybe if your ex would know just how you feel, he/she wouldn’t want to after all. don’t play this stupid game with yourself. accept the situation and work on moving forward.
3) let go.
understand and remember that there is no benefit in holding on to heartache, regret, and hatred toward another person. realize that although it is over, your relationship with that person was unique and special in a lot of ways. you can congratulate yourself for being brave enough to take a risk and fall in love and encourage your heart that even though it didn’t work out this time, there will be a next time.
4) be positive. even if it kills you.
think positively. now that you’re single (and ready to mingle), you have opportunity to be with someone else. someone new. someone different. and definitely, SOMEONE BETTER. you won’t feel shitty forever you know? change the way you think, and that will change your entire outlook. soon enough you will realize that the sense of freedom is exactly what you needed all those years giving you the courage to take on new challenges.
5) look HAWT
it is scientifically proven that exercise improves your mood and alleviates depression. the distraction will keep your mind off the situation. go shopping with your girl friends and revamp your wardrobe! this is the perfect opportunity to change your appearance. if you have long hair, go for a short bob. if you have short hair, this is the perfect excuse for hair extentions! get a full mani and pedi while you’re at it. here’s an extra tip: go for a brazillian. trust me, with you ‘bare’ down THERE, your confidence level will sky rocket! *winks* till next time……….
